What these weekly ‘on-site’ art classes offer:
Students will learn practical approaches to drawing and sketching while discovering the stunning art at a different museum or gallery location along Museum Mile. Participants will have the opportunity to engage and directly observe paintings, sculptures, or drawings, and to experiment with a variety of art materials while focusing on the basics including: form, proportion, expressive mark-making, composition, perspective, value, shading, space and color. Students will also learn about the techniques of water-color and Prismacolor, (water-soluble colored pencils), and develop a visual vocabulary, while also learning about the Elements of Art. All students will have the opportunity to engage in a guided inquiry and express their own perceptions and opinions about the collections. Participants will develop a portfolio and have an
opportunity to participate in a group show showcasing their artwork!
